Crows Zero (2007)

Crows Zero is a 2007 Japanese movie directed by Takashi Miike and based on Hiroshi Takahashi’s Crows delinquent fighting manga which was serialized in Monthly Shonen Champion from 1990-1998.

In keeping with the “Zero” in the title, Shogo Muto’s screenplay is set before the events of the manga and is intended to establish the main characters’ origins.

High school senior Genji is determined to prove his worth to his yakuza boss father in hopes of taking over the family business some day. To this end, he transfers to notoriously violent Suzuran High with the goal of quickly rising through the ranks and becoming the school’s toughest fighter before graduating. However, rival Tamao Serizawa is not about to let that happen…
