Spy Sorge (2003)

Spy Sorge is a Japanese movie directed by Masahiro Shinoda and based on the life of Soviet spy Richard Sorge. It was reportedly in planning for a decade and was eventually produced with a budget of around 2 billion yen. The movie was released by Toei and Toho in Japan on June 14, 2003.

Iain Glen stars as Richard Sorge, a Soviet double agent who posed as a Nazi throughout the 30s to obtain critical information from Germany while giving only useless information in return.

Meanwhile, Sorge is fed information from a key member of his spy network in Japan, Hotsumi (Motoki Masahiro), but the Japanese secret service are starting to get suspicious…
