The Warner Entertainment Japan has been updated with several promotional videos spotlighting the main characters from the upcoming live-action adaptation of Black Butler. A few of these have previously been featured on the trailer subsite of Yahoo! Japan, but have since been taken down for whatever reason.
First up is the Sebastian Michaelis character video I first posted back on December 26. Hiro Mizushima stars as the “flawless demon butler” Sebastian who once again comes to the aid of Phantomhive family member 130 years after the events of Yana Toboso’s original manga.
Also of note in this clip - Sebastian adores cats.
Next is the Shiori Genpo / Kiyoharu Genpo character video. Ayame Gouriki stars as a descendant of the Phantomhive family who poses as a male in order to act as heir and run Funtom Company while also working as an agent of the queen of the West. While investigating a series of mysterious deaths which leave victims mummified, Shiori receives a mysterious “black invitation” and falls into a trap, causing her to sell her soul in exchange for Sebastian’s assistance.
Alas, facial emoting is a bit of an issue for Shiori.
In the third video, former gravure idol Yuka is featured as Shiori’s aunt Hanae Wakatsuki. Hanae is a demure and mysterious character who’s also the only person in the story with specific knowledge of a bygone era which becomes integral to Shiori and Sebastian’s investigation. This role marks the first time Yuka will play someone older than her actual age, as the character is 39 and she’s only 33.
She also has a bath scene.
Last up is Mizuki Yamamoto as Rin, a cute “moe” maid character who’s clumsy but also hard-working and fiercely loyal.
Fun fact: bad things happen to people who try to shoot her.
“Black Butler” will be released nation-wide in Japan this Saturday (Jan 18).
