A trailer has been released for Yukihiro Kato’s Idol Is Dead: Non-chan no Propaganda Daisensō (Idol Is Dead 2 - Non-chan’s Great Propaganda War).

The original Idol Is Dead was released in 2012 and starred pour lui as a failed pop idol who was relegated to working as a hostess at a second-rate bar. When her former rival Momoko gloats about her own successful pop unit, “Ikaho Onsens”, lui reacts by savagely beating them all to death in a fit of rage. Later, she and her friends decide to take their place, forming “BiS” (Brand-new Idol Society) in the process. Meanwhile, a mad scientist reanimates Momoko as a revenge-seeking cyborg.

It should be noted BiS is a real rock/pop group on the avex trax label. They’re known for their wacky antics and non-traditional image, but to the best of my knowledge they have yet to murder anyone.

In the sequel, BiS plan a reunion while fighting a conspiracy involving a new idol group called “Electric Kiss” produced by “Happiness Electric Power”.

In addition to appearances from BiS members pour lui, Nozomi Hirano, Yufu Terashima, and Rio Michibayashi (Terashima and Michibayashi recently left the group), actresses Toko Miura and Erisa Yanagi also star.

“Idol Is Dead 2” will be released at Theatre Shinjuku on January 11, 2014 with a nation-wide release to follow.
