Umi no Ue no Kimi wa, Itsumo Egao (2009)
Umi no Ue no Kimi wa, Itsumo Egao is a Japanese road movie directed by Ichiro Kita to benefit environmental protection along the Kanagawa coast and youth programs in Fujisawa and Chigasaki. It was released by Office Kita on May 9, 2009.
The story revolves around a 17-year old high school student and basketball player named Migiwa (Mitsuki Tanimura) who has a secret crush on a boy named Riku (Dori Sakurada). One day Riku asks her if she surfs, and without thinking she lies and says she does. She quickly begins practicing on her own to cover for her lie, but when she gets swept up in a wave, the board drifts away from her and gets lost.
Panicked, Migiwa hops on her bike and pedals around the coastal area of Shonan looking for anywhere it may have washed up. Along the way, she meets various people in her travels and experiences some personal growth.
