Shozo Endo of the popular comedy duo Cocorico will get his first starring film role in Busjack.
Endo, who was recently challenged with a love scene in the Fuji TV drama Last Cinderella, will return to his comedy roots in the film, playing a man who’s mistaken for a bus hijacker and subsequently runs around in a confused panic.
Actress Anna Ishibashi will co-star as one of the 11 bus occupants, which include a quarreling elderly couple, a woman with suicidal tendencies, and an enigmatic girl. Other co-stars include comedian Hong Kong (Takahiro Kurano) and Mitsuhiro Fujiwara of the comedy duo “Lytton Chousadan”.
When asked how he would react if he were a passenger during a busjacking, Endo replied that he’d be like a wax sculpture and erase all expression from his face. He also added that he’d call his ex-wife Chiaki so he could tell his daughter he loves her.
Endo will play a man named Komiya who recently lost his job due to downsizing, discovered he had a shadow on his lung, and has been suffering with a toothache for some unknown reason. When he stops and picks up a gun he finds in front of a bus bound for for Kochi, the passengers all think he’s about to commit a busjacking. The bus starts moving as soon as he steps onboard and he frantically tries to stop it before the situation gets worse. Just then, a man with a knife demands a change in destination.
The movie will mark the directorial debut of Yoshifumi Fukazawa, whose previous credits include editing many mainstream releases such as Takehiko Shinjo’s Beyond the Memories and Paradise Kiss.
“Busjack” get a late show screening at Auditorium Shibuya from February 8, 2014.
