Demon Pond (2005)

Demon Pond is a Japanese DVD release of a stage play which was directed by Takashi Miike and based on a Meiji era fairytale written by Kyoka Izumi. It was released by GP Museum Soft in Japan on May 25, 2005.

In the play, a man goes north in search of his friend who is now a hermit living on a mountain near Demon Pond. Villagers must ring a bell 3 times a day to keep a mythical dragon princess from leaping out of the pond and destroying their village in an attempt to reach her mate at the mountain’s base, but when the bell is destroyed she finally gets her chance.
