Ju-on is a 2000 horror original video written and directed by Takashi Shimizu. It was the first of a 2-part series which served as a precursor to the theatrically-released series of horror films which followed it.

Plot

When student Toshio Saeki doesn’t show up at school for a while, his teacher Mr. Kobayashi decides to visit his home. He finds the boy alone and obviously abused with the house in shambles. It’s clear that something strange has happened in that house, but Kobayashi has no idea of the gruesome scene he’s about to stumble into.

Trivia

Ju-on began as a segment for the omnibus horror film Gakko no Kaidan G (1998) titled 4444444444. The cell phone picked up in the short is later shown to have been left behind by Chiaki Kuriyama's character Mizuho Tamura in the OV.
